Storm Brings Trees Down

A strong storm rolled through the immediate area Saturday afternoon causing destruction in its wake. Trees were broken, limbs were torn down and wires were tangled. The Ancram Fire Company had multiple calls for trees down on roadways and the center of town was without power. Two houses called because of trees that had fallen onto them, one call for a propane leak and another call for an alarm activation. Members were so busy and strecthed thin, members from Taghkanic Fire Company were called in to help. Investigations are on going if a possible tornado had touched down to the area south of Ancram. Special thank you to Taghkanic Fire Company, New York State Police and Columbia County Sheriff for assisting with emergency calls. Big shout out to Central Hudson for their work clearing trees and resetting power which came back to most residents around 9 o'clock.
