October Drill About Fire Behavior

Tuesday evening members of the Ancram Fire Company talked about fire behavior, smoke reading and thermal imagining. Once the topic were reviewed members used a Palmers Dollhouse, a wooden miniature house that is lit on fire and then can be manipulated to move fire, change behavior and impact conditions as well as produce smoke for examples and use thermal imaging to examine it all. Learning important techniques and life saving skills can be highlighted here when showing exactly what we are up against. Within minutes of starting the fire in the bottom left corner, smoke and flames were noticed throughout the structure. Closing doors and windows can certainly mitigate the spread. Our members saw first hand what it takes to extinguish and prevent fire spread.
