At approximately one in the afternoon the Ancram Fire Company was dispatched to an out of control burn/brush fire on County Route 8. The small pile that was being burned spread to some nearby brush and leaves accidently causing the hillside to catch on fire. 79-66 arrived on scene and with the help from some highway department members who were passing by, contained and extinguished the blaze. 79-31 and 79-30 waited on the roadway and 79-70 directed traffic. We were very lucky today with the weather conditions that it didnt spread faster. Conditions are very dry and the NYS burn ban is in effect, started March 16th through May 14th.
