Sunday Drill In July

The Ancram Fire Company along with help from Taghkanic Fire Company and Craryville Fire Company, practice setting up and implementing a tanker shuttle. Units using large drop tanks were able to have over 7000 gallons of water at their disposal. This is a large operation that involves a lot of members and equipment. Helicopter Landing

Ancram Fire Company was dispatched to assist Community Rescue Squad early Thursday evening. Requesting a helicopter to be landed for an individual at Camp Anne. Members assisted loading the patient into the helicopter once it landed. 79-20 as well as chief vehicles were in the area to help give location and guide the pilots to a suitable landing spot at the campground. ... Cornhole Tournament

The Ancram Fire Company is holding its annual Stewart Hunt Memorial Cornhole Tournament on August 16th. Alarm Activation During Heat

The heat is passing through the area and the members of the Ancram Fire Company dont stop. Alarm activation in the middle of the day is common but really has to be taken seriously, especially with this heat. Staying hydrated and cool is priority even when you have to go outside. Ladder Drill

For the middle of June the Ancram Fire Company members practiced raising, lowering and carrying ladders. The use of ladders are a very important part of firefighter safety, helping make a rescue or to get into position to find the fire. June Drill At The Paper Mill

The Ancram Fire Company practiced large area search at the SWM paper mill, able to use a darkened warehouse. Members used ropes and thermal imaging cameras to locate targets and objects within the building working together as a team and communicating to not become seperated in a large structure. Hose Deployment Drill

The fire company practiced stretching and flaking out a hose line from a crosslay to a door like they would in the event of a fire. After members continued to use our new self contained breathing apparatuses that are a larger size air bottle allowing us to get more work done when at an emergency. Move Over For Emergency Vehicles

When a vehicle with flashing lights is stopped on or next to a roadway, drivers approaching the vehicle should:
change into a lane not immediately adjacent to the vehicle, or slow down to a reasonable speed if you’re unable to safely make a lane change.
