Memorial Day Parade and Celebration
Captain Alexander Skoda, May 18
The Ancram Fire Company will be hosting this years Memorial Day parade. Parade will be lining up at 10:30 am, with the start being at 11 am. Starting at the town hall and going to the firehouse for a ceremony to follow. Members will be serving hot dogs and refreshments for attendees. We hope to see you all there! May Drill

Sunday morning was the members training on forcible entry and gas metering. Members were shown how to safely and effectively open a locked or jammed door using simple tools in the case of an emergency. Members also practiced using a lock picking kit on padlocks and door locks, if the need arises that something is locked but doesnt require forced entry with tools potentially damaging the locks, we ... Open House

Open house is scheduled for May 2nd from 9AM till 12PM. Residents can come meet and talk with members, tour the firehouse, have fire extinguishers checked and if necessary refilled, smoke detectors, fire prevention information. Car Accident on 22

At approximately 3pm on Friday afternoon, the Ancram Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to an automobile accident on Route 22. Reports indicated that the car traveling northbound had struck a tree between White House Crossing and Boston Corners Roads. Red Flag Warning

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued a red flag warning for the Hudson Valley. The red flag warning is "a short-term, temporary warning, indicating the presence of a dangerous combination of temperature, wind, relative humidity, fuel or drought conditions which can contribute to new fires or rapid spread of existing fires." Brush Fire on Doodletown Road

At approximately 1pm, members of the Ancram Fire Company were dispatched to a brush fire on Doodletown Road. A fast response from members who had discovered it, were able to contain the fast moving flames. A homeowner was burning brush and debris that spread up the nearby hill. New York State is still in a burn ban till May 14th. Please refrain from burning anything during this dry breezy weather. ... (Full Story & Photos)

Search & Rescue Drill

The Ancram Fire Company practiced and trained on search and rescue. Members took turns searching an area for items, furniture and people. A skill that fortunately is not used often but can have dangerous consequences if not reviewed. Searching areas with low or no visibility is not easy and teams worked exceptionally hard to locate the targets.... (Full Story & Photos)

Controlled Burn Out Of Control

At approximately one in the afternoon the Ancram Fire Company was dispatched to an out of control burn/brush fire on County Route 8. The small pile that was being burned spread to some nearby brush and leaves accidently causing the hillside to catch on fire. 79-66 arrived on scene and with the help from some highway department members who were passing by, contained and extinguished the blaze. 79-31 ...
